Reward 2019 – The Baron Prize

Baronprize

The Baron Prize for Art commends the work of artists who have produced projects investigating sex and sexuality and identity politics. This years prize has been judged by artist Sue Webster, Che Zara Blomfeld art editor and founder of Baron and Ashleigh Kane, arts and culture editor of Dazed & Confused.

In third place is “Curiosa” which is part of a series of 18 works based on ephemeral objects by Andrey Zouari, a collection of sketched shapes, childish, sexual and disruptive, which would trigger an “unintentional” introspective, intimate journey. This collection is similar to a cabinet of wonders ( wunderkammer) with psychoanalytical virtue as well as a revealer of the pregenital archetypes buried in the unconscious depths, at the beginning of the creation of sexual identity in order to reveal the hermaphroditic self, still undetermined and mysterious.
